Collision with Truck Leaves Two Pedestrians in Chicago Seriously Injured

Whether you realize it or not, trucks are probably part of your daily life if you call Chicago home. You encounter them when you drive on the expressways that surround the city. You come across them at the intersections of streets while you are waiting to cross. They bring food and goods to the city for purchase by consumers. Trucks are so commonplace that chances are that you do not notice the majority of them that you encounter throughout the day.

Unless you happen to be one of the thousands of victims of a truck accident each year in the State of Illinois. In that case, you know just how dangerous a truck can be when it’s large and heavy build collides with your vehicle, your property, or even your person. Unlike some other types of collisions, truck accidents can, and often do, cause massive devastation in their wake and leave innocent victims in need of medical help.

While any type of crash with a truck can be deadly, those that occur between a pedestrian and a truck tend to be the most dangerous. Unlike other situations, there is little to nothing to prevent the body of a pedestrian from taking the full blow of an impact when a crash happens, possibly leading to injuries or even death.

Victims of pedestrian accidents may need medical, rehabilitative, and even occupational assistance to return to the way they were before the crash occurred. This treatment can be pricey and can leave many victims wondering about their options for help, especially when they did nothing wrong to cause the collision. Fortunately, the legislature in Illinois recognizes that these injury victims should not be forced to bear the financial toll of the harm that they suffer. Instead, the laws of the state enable victim to seek financial compensation for their damages and for the wrongs done upon them through the use of a civil claim for damages. These claims are possible even if an at-fault driver does not get a traffic ticket for the crash or if the at-fault driver is found not guilty in a traffic proceeding. Working with a personal injury attorney is a good way to ensure that your rights are protected and that you will be able to seek help following your crash.

Details are still emerging at this time about a collision earlier today that left a young girl and a woman with critical injuries in Chicago. Police have confirmed that a truck was traveling eastbound on 69th Street near South Prairie Avenue when it collided with a 23-year-old woman and a young girl.

Emergency crews tended to the two female victims and transported each to an area hospital in critical condition. The driver of the truck did not appear to sustain serious injuries in the crash and officials are still trying to determine what led to the collision at this time.
